James Quinlan, University of Southern Maine

Dr. Quinlan, this years’ Distinguished University Teaching Award recipient, is an assistant professor of Computer Science at the University of Southern Maine and has taught university mathematics and computer science for over 15 years. Dr. Quinlan also serves as editor of the North American GeoGebra Journal, is a member of the MAA’s national Committee on Technologies in Mathematics Education (CTME), and is the webmaster for its regional section.

Invited Speakers


Larissa Schroeder, University of Nebraska - Omaha

Dr. Schroeder is a Lecturer at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where she is part of a team implementing standards-based grading in courses below Calculus. She is also interested in supporting math faculty who engage in the scholarship of teaching and learning to better understand the impact of pedagogical innovations in the classroom.


Jonathan Touboul, Brandeis University

Dr. Touboul is Professor of Mathematics at Brandeis University and faculty in the Brandeis neuroscience graduate program.


Karen Lange, Wellesley College

Dr. Lange math professor at Wellesley College.  She is passionate about supporting people on their mathematical journeys, both in the classroom and out.  She aims to provide students with carefully scaffolded student-centered learning experiences that develop their mathematical understanding, agency, and confidence alongside other broadly applicable skills.
