The Hudson River Undergraduate Mathematics Conference (HRUMC) will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY. This conference is free for registered participants, thanks in part to the support of an NSF grant (DMS-2429253). The day includes a light breakfast and lunch, around the main events, namely, math talks, including a plenary address by Professor Jose Perea from Northeastern University. We would be delighted if you and your colleagues and students who are interested could join us.
One goal of HRUMC is to provide undergraduates with the opportunity to attend and/or present at a professional mathematics meeting designed primarily for students. In light of this goal, we solicit 15-minute talks from both students and faculty, scheduling them in concurrent sessions (organized by topic). In particular, many sessions feature talks by both students and faculty. There are talks that appeal to specialists and others that are accessible to first- & second-year students. Some presentations describe original research done by faculty, students, or students collaborating with faculty, while others are expository.
HRUMC is a valuable opportunity for undergraduates to present work from a senior thesis or capstone project, an REU experience, or an interesting class project. For those who do not wish to give a presentation, it is a valuable opportunity to learn about others' work, network with students and faculty in the region, hear about other students’ undergraduate experiences, and continue thinking about post-graduation plans. All are welcome!
Conference registration is now open! Registration for HRUMC is through the conference website: https://sites.google.com/view/hrumc. Click on the “Abstracts and Registration” tab at the top of the page to access the registration form. The registration deadlines are as follows:
Tuesday, April 7, for abstract submission (for those submitting a talk).
Friday, April 17, for non-speaker registration.
Please spread the word to faculty and students in your department. A conference poster you can use to advertise HRUMC will be available in the coming weeks. We will email it to you to help you advertise HRUMC locally.
Please feel free to direct anyone with questions about HRUMC to Kariane Calta <kacalta@vassar.edu> and/or Ben Lotto <lotto@vassar.edu>.
