Local INformation
1. Most talks and events will be in the Schiller Institute, located at 245 Beacon street in chestnut hill. Friday dinner will be in Yawkey Athletic Center at Boston College (on Campanella way, a quick walk from 245 beacon) and Saturday lunch will be in Lyons Hall, also a quick walk.
2. AC Hotel Cleveland Circle https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/bosab-ac-hotel-boston-cleveland-circle/overview/ which we often use for visiting speakers. It is about 1.5 miles walking distance from the main building where talks will be held. The BC shuttle picks up very near here.
3. The Courtyard by Marriott in Brookline is another option https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/bosbl-courtyard-boston-brookline/photos/ It is almost 3 miles from the main building.
4. There is a shuttle that BC runs that serves the area surrounding campus. https://www.bc.edu/bc-web/offices/auxiliary-services/sites/transportation-parking/shuttles.html (scroll down for routes and maps)
5. There are two T-stops about a mile from the building where we will be (Boston College on the B line and Chestnut Hill on the D line).
6. There are two garages (the Commonwealth Ave Garage and the Beacon Street Garage) on campus where visitors are able to park without needing a parking pass. Both are less than a quarter mile from the main building where we will be. Technology Notes
The Microsoft Office 360 will not be available on the classroom computers.
Classroom Audio Visual Presentation Methods
(a) Computer projection and the internet in the classroom will be available. If you have a PowerPoint presentation and are not bringing a laptop, convert the PowerPoint to a PDF PowerPoint. Bring the presentation on a thumb drive or email it to yourself.
(b) Connecting your Own Device - If you want to use your laptop, the classroom podiums have an HDMI cord to connect your device. Presenters will be responsible for bringing any adaptor/connector, to connect into the classroom HDMI cord.
WiFi is available through the Boston College Guest access.
A Google folder in case you would like to drop their slides in there. Permissions are set so that anyone with the link can edit, so you should not post anything they do not want "publicly" available (necessary so any speaker can upload notes).

Tech support here additionally suggests that you do not use Google Slides if you plan to have embedded videos in their slides. It does not work well/videos have to load before they will play. We will have at least one laptop available that belongs to BC's department that should behave well with the projectors, in case there are issues with people's laptops that tech support cannot fix, and we are also planning on bringing extra connectors.
